M6012W (001) WWⅡ MODEL JACKET | Left Hand Twill
A WWII-inspired denim jacket—reborn through modern craftsmanship.
A study in restraint, utility, and raw beauty.
Born from the constraints of 1940s material rationing, workwear of the WWII era embraced simplicity and purpose. This jacket draws inspiration from vintage store-brand pieces of that time—reconstructed through BIG JOHN’s lens into a garment that balances historical authenticity with modern craftsmanship.
“What if BIG JOHN had made this in the 1940s?”
Built on that very premise, the M6012W WWII MODEL JACKET uses the series’ signature 10oz light-ounce denim. The left-hand twill construction delivers a distinctive softness and natural twist, while promising a rich aging process that deepens with every wear.
■ Fabric — 10oz WWII Selvedge Denim (Unfinished)
Crafted using 7/- × 10/- yarns in a left-hand twill weave, this fabric blends tradition with innovation. It incorporates 20% recycled cotton, spun from mill waste, irregular yarns, and deadstock fibers—resulting in a texture defined by nep, hairiness, and a dry, uneven surface.
Woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms with low tension, the fabric captures a soft, airy hand and a distinctly vintage character. Though visually reminiscent of heavy denim, it remains lightweight at 10oz—offering both presence and comfort.
Finished with one wash and sun drying, preserving its natural expression without over-processing.
■ Details — Function shaped by limitation
• Classic work jacket design with front pleats
• Single selvedge edge construction, reflecting material efficiency of the era
• Iron one-star donut buttons
• Two chest pockets for practical use
• Cotton thread stitching, designed to age alongside the fabric
• One-wash + sun-dried finish for a natural, worn-in feel
• Set-up compatible with M1012W WWII model jeans
Minimalism with character.
Stripped of excess, the design embraces a quiet strength—rugged yet refined. It transitions seamlessly between work and everyday wear, embodying the intersection of 1940s workwear philosophy and BIG JOHN’s heritage rooted in Maruo Clothing.
